The Whistleblower Protection Act, came into force on January 2, 2021. From July 2, 2023, companies with 250 or more employees will be obliged to offer their employees a secure and confidential reporting channel for reporting violations of the law. Organizations in the private sector with between 50 and 249 employees still have until December 17, 2023 to meet the requirements of the HinSchG. This is intended to encourage employees to report violations within the company without having to fear any disadvantages.
The main objective of this law is to strengthen the protection of whistleblowers while at the same time uncovering and preventing corruption and abuses within companies.
The implementation of internal whistleblower systems is intended to achieve these goals more effectively.
