Of particular note: Going forward, the guideline will no longer apply only to combustible roofs, but to <strong>all types of roofing<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c00d0e;\"><strong>What\u2019s Changing Specifically<br \/><\/strong><\/span>The new VdS 6023 marks a fundamental shift in how photovoltaic systems are handled on commercial properties. While the previous version was primarily regarded as a strict catalog of measures for combustible roofs, the new guideline now takes a significantly more comprehensive approach to risk assessment. Photovoltaic systems are still considered an additional source of hazard\u2014but they do not automatically increase the building code requirements for the roof structure itself. Instead, the specific roof construction will be the decisive factor in the future. Particular focus is placed on constructions such as:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sheet metal \u2013 combustible insulation \u2013 sheet metal<\/li>\n<li>Trapezoidal sheet metal roofs<\/li>\n<li>Wooden roofs<\/li>\n<li>PV-green roof combinations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>These roof types could lose their previous classification as \u201cnon-combustible.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><strong> <span style=\"color: #c00d0e;\">Impact on Insurability<br \/><\/span><\/strong>In practice, the VdS guidelines are considered an important standard for the insurability of commercial real estate. It is expected that insurers will promptly incorporate the new requirements into their risk assessments. Above all, the requirement for arc detection is increasingly becoming the new market standard\u2014particularly for systems installed on combustible roof structures.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c00d0e;\"><strong>Connection to VdS 3145<\/strong><\/span> <br \/>The new VdS 6023 supplements the previously revised <strong>VdS 3145<\/strong>.
