It serves as proof of valid motor vehicle liability insurance and is required or recommended in many countries.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c00d0e;\"><strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c00d0e;\"><strong>Safe on the road with the International Insurance Card (formerly \u201cGreen Card\u201d)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#x1f30d;<\/strong><strong> Where is the International Insurance Card required<u>?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In many European countries it is no longer mandatory, but in some it is still recommended or even required:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Required e.g. in: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Recommended e.g. in: Italy, Poland, Hungary. The insurance card is also strongly recommended for Great Britain and Northern Ireland since Brexit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In countries that do not participate in the Green Card system, the insurance cover of the motor vehicle liability insurance does not apply. Before crossing the border into such countries, so-called border insurance must be taken out for the vehicle.
