Cyberattacks, artificial intelligence, and digital scams present companies with ever-changing challenges. In the latest issue of ProMagazin for the Heilbronn-Franken region, Christian Hörtkorn, owner and managing director of the Hörtkorn Group, discusses how small and medium-sized businesses in particular can prepare for these challenges and strengthen their resilience.
Under the title “It Can Happen to Anyone”, the article highlights the growing significance of cyber risks for companies of all sizes and industries. As digitalization advances, new vulnerabilities emerge—and at the same time, cyberattacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated through the use of artificial intelligence.
“Whether it’s a large corporation, a mid-sized company, or an SME: cyberattacks are an everyday threat. It can happen to anyone.” Christian Hörtkorn
Smaller companies, in particular, still frequently underestimate their own risk. Yet they can become targets of an attack themselves or serve as entry points to reach larger companies via supply chains and interconnected systems.
Cyber insurance is only part of the solution
Effective protection begins even before potential damage occurs. High IT security standards, technical safeguards, clear organizational processes, and a continuous assessment of one’s own risks are essential components of a comprehensive security strategy today.
Appropriate insurance coverage also plays an important role in this regard. In addition to cyber insurance, fidelity insurance, for example, is gaining in importance—particularly in cases of damage caused by fake emails, forged identities, or manipulated payment requests.
For Christian Hörtkorn, it is therefore crucial to consider insurance and risk management together. The Hörtkorn Group supports its clients from analysis and prevention through customized insurance solutions to active claims management and collaboration with specialized IT partners.
“Security is not a product, but a dynamic process.” Christian Hörtkorn
